 National Championship Results 2021

At the beginning of September, Tia Ratty represented the club at the Nationals after qualifying in July. Tia competed in the Novice dressage and not only finished 2nd in her arena with a massive 88.56% but also came 2nd overall! Well done Tia, we are all very proud of your achievement!

Area Qualifiers

The July 2021 Area qualifiers saw one of members compete in both the show jumping and dressage areas on the same weekend.
Tia Ratty represented the club on the Saturday at the show jumping and had an unfortunate 8 faults.
Tia then competed in the dressage the following day and on one of the hottest days of the year! Tia was 2nd in the elementary and came 1st in the Senior Riding Test class, qualifying her for the national championships! Well Done Tia!!

Win at Nationals for Fawkham

Picture
At the beginning of September, the club went to the National Championships in Lincoln for the weekend.
Seniors rode on the Saturday with Abigail Higgins and Tia Ratty representing the club. Abi took part in the 80cm showjumping where she completed a lovely clear first round - no placing a for Abi and Colby on this occasion but a great experience and first time at Lincoln for the pair.
Tia took part in the Novice dressage, Riding Test and Style Jumping. No placings in riding test and Style jumping for Tia and Rolo but after many years of Tia competing at the National Championships as a junior, she finally had her amazing moment of winning her arena in the Novice dressage!!!

Sunday was time for the juniors and Bella Saville was part of the Area 10 90 showjumping team as well as Style jumping individual and Kiki Ratty competed in the Novice dressage.
Unfortunately it wasn’t Bella and Alan’s day as Alan wasn’t quite right but it was a huge achievement for Bella to be asked to be part of the Area team.
Kiki and Rolo pulled out a brilliant 3rd place in the Novice dressage!
A massive well done to all our riders, you all represented us beautifully - even if the day didn’t go as planned. We are very proud of our club.

Double team win for Fawkhams Dressage Divas - 2017

Fawkham and District riders competed in Speedgate's Team Dressage competitions in both July and September.

The July competition saw two teams represent the Club finishing the day on a high with 1st and 4th Placings.
The team members did the club proud and the committee would like to thank them for representing FDRC.

It was a great day out, it’s so nice that we have members who support each other; this was shown with an emotional finish as Committee member, Alison Orsbourn and her horse Diplomat, made their return to the ring after a long period of rehab for Dippy following an injury, this was made even more special given the initial verdict from the vets was that Dippy was unlikely to return to a competitive career.  They were amazing and you could hear a pin drop during their test which was harmonious and a joy to watch.  They gained the highest score of the competition in the Medium level section leading team Fawkham Gold to an overall win.

July's Winning Team:

1st - Fawkham Gold 66.8%
Lucy McCarthy and Dark Secret
Claire Lyne and Smurf
Stacey Ward and Queenie
Alison Orsbourn and Diplomat

September saw FDRC field 3 teams all of which were placed!!!  We are so lucky to have some fabulous riders and horses in our club and we as a committee couldn’t be prouder of all of you who work and try so hard.  Our FDRC teams were placed 1st, 2nd and 6th and we had the highest scores in 3 sections:

Intro – Stacey Brunsdon
Prelim – Abbie Keenan
Novice – Stacey Ward.

September's Winning Team

1st Fawkham RC Gold - 67.7%
Lucy McCarthy and Dark Secret
Stacey Brunsdon and Dark Grey Cloud
Jackie Reader and Dark Grey Cloud
Stacey Ward and Queenie

We will be looking to send more teams next year not only to the Speedgate events but also the qualifiers and other events as they come up.  Please do contact us if you would like to put your name forward for a team.  Don’t be shy.  Whether you’re new to dressage or it’s your forte we would welcome anyone of our members into a team.

National dressage win for Fawkham

In April 2017 Nicola Damms headed off to the Equi-Theme Junior Intermediate Winter dressage Championships after qualifying at Blue Barn EC in 2016.

Nicola joined our riding club in 2016 and as a partnership Nicola and her horse won our junior prelim section of our Winter Dressage series in 2016 that we hold annually at Arrow RC.

We are delighted and so proud that Nicola and her horse Umberto come away with a win at the Dressage Championships scoring a whopping 70.19 %

Well done Nicola and thanks for representing Fawkham & District RC so well.

Another Showjumping Win for Fawkham Riding Club

On the 28th February we sent 4 teams to the Area 10 Friendly Team Jumping competition with Alison Osbourn as chef d'equipe.  We only had teams of 3 on the day due to injuries and illnesses,  so we had no drop scores on competition day.

Our Juniors rode first and mostly all went clear in the warm up classes , one of our riders had an unfortunate fall in the Teams class, but our other team went clear resulted in them having to jump off  - Olivia Choules has a super smart clear fast round in the jump off , but was just pipped to 1st place by 2 seconds.  Leaving our junior team in a well-deserved 2nd place.
2nd
Fawkham “A” J/O Clear in 29.89:
Gracie Tomlinson – Mrs Two Shoes
Isabelle Saville – Campastan Ben Lad
Olivia Choules – Take the T to the Bo

Our seniors again all went well in the warm up classes, but in the teams class we had two riders on faults in one team, but our 2nd senior team did a fantastic job and all went clear, also taking them through to the jump off stage of the competition.  Emma Harrod was our jump off rider and did a fast round, but with 4 faults, but all other teams also had faults resulting in a FIRST PLACE FOR FAWKHAM!!!

1st
 Fawkham & District - J/O 4 Faults in 27.51
 Stacey McDaid – Lymebrooks Arabella
 Laura Andrews – Midnight Sonata
 Emma Harrod - Procurer

Well done to all our riders that took part on the day: Gracie Tomlinson, Isabella Saville, Olivia Choules, Abigail Keenan, Megan Lines, Katie Rankine, Stacey Ward, Emily Stedman, Alice Latta, Laura Andrews, Stacey McDaid and Emma Harrod for taking part and Alison Osbourn for organising the team before and on the day – good job well done. :o)

Fawkham Showjumping Wins
FDRC members prove they are more than just dressage divas

As a Kent club we have been long known just as a dressage club, but in 2015 our riders come out in force and crowned with some Showjumping wins.

As a club we traveled up to BRC Naf National Championships in September, we had teams competing in Dressage, Style jumping and Showjumping, as a club we come away with many placings. We are super proud of all of our members. The big win was that our senior rider John Benning won as an individual to become National Open Showjumping Individual Champion on his own horse Paddy. Just amazing!!!

In November 2015, we had two teams mixed of seniors and juniors take part in Teams Showjumping at Eaglesfield Equestrian Centre. Out of 26 teams Fawkham and District come 1st and 5th.  We were so thrilled with the results, we had to jump off with two other clear teams to win the Trophy and 1st place.
Well done to Alice Latta, Gracie Tomilinson, Katie Rankine, Tia Ratty, Rebecca Hanks , Julie Hanks, Isabelle Saville and Laura Andrews.  Good luck for 2016 Ladies

Longines RIHS Hickstead 2015 BRC Teams Jumping

This year was our 2nd year taking part in this event and what a great time we had!  Our team consisted of Stacey Ward, Olivia Choules and John Benning.  Stacey had an unlucky round as Queenie got stage fright and didn’t want to jump anymore.  This left us on a score of 50, and there were many many other teams that were also on this score with very few clear rounds!  Olivia was next to jump in the 95cm section followed by John in the 1.05m section later on in the afternoon.  Both riders jumped beautifully with lovely clear rounds.  Out of 121 teams we came a very respectable 72nd!  It was great to see so many Area 10 clubs in the top 10 placings.  Next year we will be back, looking forward to it already!

BRC Dressage to Music Qualifier July 2015

For the first time in years there was lots of competition at this event which made a nice change!  Marion Herbert and Mak came 3rd in the prelim qualifying for London and South East.  Natalie made lots of rider errors by forgetting the compulsory movements!  Natalie and Nicola both came 2nd in the Pas Seul and the pairs dressage to music qualifying for London and South East in both the classes.

BRC Area 10 Dressage and Riding Test Qualifier July 2015

We sent 5 teams to the dressage and riding test qualifiers which took place in Sevenoaks.  Our senior novice dressage team didn’t have a brilliant day with all scores under 60% bar one which was 66%.  The senior open dressage team done a brilliant job with a team 4th place and Shelley Ratty gaining individual 2nd place qualifying her for the national championships and Alison Osbourn taking part in her first qualifier and gaining individual 4th place.  Our senior pairs riders, Natalie and Nicola came 2nd

The senior riding test team came away with a 3rd place qualifying them for the London and South East Championships and Shelley Ratty individual 4th and Alison Osbourn individual 6th.  Alice Latta also gained a 3rd place qualifying her for the nationals.

The junior dressage team and riding test team also were in the ribbons with both teams coming 2nd.  The dressage team were beaten to first place by just one point so it was very close!  Tia Ratty gained an individual 1st place qualifying for the national championships, and Chloe French, Isabella Saville and Olivia Choules each gained a 3rd place.  Chloe French gained an individual 3rd while Tia was placed 5th individually, both in the riding test.  Chloe and Isabella have also qualified for the nationals.

BRC Area 10 Show Jumping and Style Jumping Qualifier July 2015

This qualifier took place at Lodge Farm in June and we took part in the junior novice team jumping, junior style team jumping and the senior open jumping.  It was our first time having a style jumping team and unfortunately not all horses wanted to play ball!  However, it was a great day for Katie Rankine and she qualified for the national championships in Lincoln as an individual.

The junior team jumping gave it a good go with Olivia and Tbo showing off their stunt riding with no stirrups in the second round!  Tia and Leo had an unlucky stop and Katie and Lola gave their first qualifier a go.  We didn’t gain any placings but as a club, jumping isn’t our strongest discipline and we will continue to get better and improve.

John and Paddy took part in the senior open jumping as an individual and jumped two fantastic rounds leaving him as the clear winner and qualifying for the national championships!

BRC Festival of the Horse National Championships March 2015

For the first time ever, our juniors qualified for the FOTH combined training national championships held at Aston Le Walls, Northamptionshire.  Our team consisted of Rebecca Hanks, Isabella Saville, Charlotte Hay and Tia Ratty.

It was tough competition with teams competing from across the country but our juniors tried their hardest and had great fun.  Isabella and Rebecca were the youngest juniors and were on the smallest ponies which at times was quite intimidating but they held their own and completed lovely dressage tests with respectable scores.  Their 70cm jumping didn’t quite go to plan as Rebecca Hanks pony Becky became very excited and decided galloping around the arena was much more fun!  Despite this, both girls done a fantastic job especially considering it was their first time at a championship.

Charlotte and Tia rode in the novice dressage section.  Charlotte completed a much improved dressage test and gained a respectable score.  Tia gained one of the highest scores throughout the day.  Both girls jumped lovely rounds and they all represented the club brilliantly.

We were way out of the team placings but Tia managed to pull an overall individual 2nd place out of the bag!  The club is very proud of this result along with the fact that everyone had a fantastic time which made the long journey worthwhile!

Side Saddle Clinic - 17th August 2014

On 17th August we held our first ‘Have a Go at Side Saddle Clinic’ with Pippa Doran at White House Stables, Fawkham by kind permission of Sophie Wyles.

It has inspired those riders that took part to have another go and for others to try it for the first time, so we will look to run another in the future. Pippa was very informative and helped riders get the full experience of riding side saddle.

This was our last clinic held in 2014, thank you to all that attended our clinics and Janice Greenfield for organising.
Watch our diary for next years clinics and dates.

Fawkham went to Hickstead!!! - 3rd Aug 2014

For the first time ever we sent a team to the Longines International Horse Show at Hickstead to take part in the Riding Clubs Team Jumping competition.

We didn't do great but we was not expecting to, the aim of the game was to go for the first time ever, try our best and to have a great time....and we succeeded!! It is an amazing venue and there was a lot going on for the horses and riders to take in.  We enjoyed the shopping aspect too.

Stacey and Charlotte had unlucky rounds, but John and Paddy did well going clear.   We will go back next year.

FDRC Wild West Quiz Night - 28th July 2014

We held our 2nd quiz night on Monday 28th July at The Rising Sun, Fawkham.

Again it was well attended and this time the theme was Wild West, some of our participants dressed the part too, which was great.

We had some fantastic prizes donated to us by Equi- Elegance with thanks to Leanne Hollands http://www.equi-elegance.co.uk/ , vouchers from Speedgate Equestrian http://www.speedgate.co.uk/ , wine from http://www.risingsun-fawkham.co.uk/#!/ as well as vouchers for our club entries and donations through the committee members and friends of the club.

A massive thanks to our quiz mistress Janice Greenfield who did a great job at compiling questions to baffle most of us. Watch this space for our next quiz night.

London & South East Championships - Oct 2013

PictureTia, Stacey & Sophie
After qualifying at the Area dressage back in June 2013, we sent a dressage team to the championship show at Munstead, Surrey.

Viv Howie and Leo, Stacey Ward and Queenie, Sophie Wyles and Argo, Tia Ratty and Bluey all competed for Fawkham.   The team were out of the placing's but all gained respectable scores. Bluey thought he was at a ODE and got a tad excited on the grass, Queenie and Argo have only competed on grass a handful of times, so will work on practicing for next years qualifiers.

Huge congratulations to Viv Howie on her individual 2nd place.

Lincoln National Championships - Sept 2013

PictureSophie & Richie
Sophie Wyles and Richie competing in the Novice dressage class and John Benning and
Paddy competing in the 85cm jumping class went to Lincoln to represented the club on
7th September 2013.

It was both their first time competing at a national competition and they were up against some very good horses and riders from other clubs.  Both horses behaved perfectly with Sophie and Richie out of the placings but gaining a good respectable score of over 60%.

John and Paddy were also out of  the placings but came 16th out of over 100 riders, what an achievement for our first jumping qualification!

Area 10 Dressage to Music Qualifiers - 21st July 2013

PictureNatalie & Oliver
Another successful outing for Fawkham & District riding club last weekend.

Natalie Scott & Nicola Whiteman attended the Area 10 Dressage to Music qualifiers at Hadlow college on Sunday 21st July representing the club.

Nicola was riding  Zero and was placed 2nd and Natalie was riding Oliver and was placed 1st!!!!! Natalie has qualified for the national championships in Buckinghamshire and both girls have qualified for the London and South East championship.

Well done to both girls and hopefully this will spur our other members on to have a go at some DTM, the club are planning some clinics next year. Watch our website for more details.

Area 10 Show Jumping Qualifier – 23rd June 2013

This was held at Felbridge Showground and was the first time the club has ever sent a show jumping team to a qualifier!!
It was a very long day and due to unfortunate circumstances we only had a team of three but our riders Julie Hanks and Jake, Sarah Bartholomew and Jim,  and John Benning and Paddy rode really well!!  The course was pretty tricky with a lot  of riders having poles down and even some falls!!
Julie was extremely nervous and completed her first round on 12 faults but by the second round her nerves had calmed down and she rode better to  finish on 8 faults.  Sarah had a very unlucky 4 faults in her first round but went clear in the second  round.  John had 2 lovely clear  rounds and went into the jump off for an individual placing

The jump off was nail biting and Natalie, Lucy and Dorne were so nervous for John and Paddy as we were so shocked
to get this far in the competition.   Having a jumping team is an achievement in itself for us, let alone having a rider in the jump off!!
After stiff competition and out of 76 riders the individual winner of the 80cm team jumping was John and Paddy!!!!!!!

Sam Mabb Dressage Clinic - 23rd March 2013

Unfortunatley our first Sam Mabb clinic of the year and our first at White House Stables had to be cancelled due to snow, but depsite the threat of snow on 23rd March, we were able to run our clinic at Nurstead Court on 23rd March.
Our riders wrapped up warm and Sam gained a couple of new clients from the clinic, as they were impressed with her training skills - Some of the photos on slideshow below

Royal Windsor Horse Show Qualifiers - Feb 2013

Well done to our riders that competed at the RWHS qualifiers at the Arrow.

It was an unlucky day for Tia Ratty and Queensdale Campari in the junior section but they still came away with a
good score and 6th place.

Viv Howie competed  for the club on her new ride Leo and came 4th in the warm up class and  gained  5th place in the qualifier.

Stacey Ward and Queenie were competed for the club for the 2nd time and were out of the placings but completed a really nice test and came  away with a score of 64%.

BRC Dressage to Music Championships 2012 - Report

Picture

Congratulations to Natalie and Nicola and Oliver and Zero for competing in the BRC National Dressage Championships in Liverpool on 6th October  representing FDRC.

It was a 7 hour journey up to Liverpool for all involved, horses, Natalie, Nicola and their team of supporters.

Both riders were pleased with their horses for not only travelling and settling in well to their new surroundings for the weekend (considering it was Zeros, Nicola's horse first experience at Aintree) but for getting down to business in the arena during their test.

The competition was very stiff, They competed in the pairs class DTM and were placed 11th.

Area 10 Dressage qualifiers - 22nd July 2012 - Results

Picture
We sent 2 teams and lots of individual riders to the qualifiers but unfortunately in the last couple of days leading up to the qualifiers we had riders withdraw from the competition due to various reasons.  On the day every rider competed as an individual.

Our riders and horses done a great job at representing the club and should be very pleased with their results even though we had no qualifications apart from the music classes – after all, it is the taking part that counts!  For some of our riders and horses it was the first time competing for the club at a qualifier.

Our next team competitions will be the Winter Dressage Qualifiers, if anyone would like to compete for the club in a friendly, no-pressure atmosphere then please get in touch.

31st March 2012 - Emile Faurie - Dressage Clinic

Picture
Our clinic held at The Old Mill, Swanley, Kent proved to be a great success.

Emile is one of the country’s top international dressage riders and trainers and has represented Great Britain at World, European and Olympic level.

He put all riders at ease on the day and gave riders some useful exercises and tips to improve their riding and their horses way of going. We had many spectators on the day and they took away some knowledge too, please look out for future clinic dates on our clinics page.

FDRC are supporters of the Emile Faurie Foundation and have donated to this worthwhile charity over the years, its aim is to help children experience the joys and benefits of horsemanship whom riding may not otherwise be within reach.  - please take a look at the Charity's website -  http://www.emilefauriefoundation.org.uk
